Lake Herrick Watershed Restoration, Phase 1:  Upper Pond Watershed

Lake Herrick Watershed Restoration, Phase 1: Upper Pond Watershed Renovation, seeks to enhance Upper Pond’s function as pre-treatment to improve water quality in Lake Herrick.  The Upper Pond drainage basin is approximately 17 acres comprised mostly of Oconee Forest Park with managed forest and trails.  The restoration proposes to rebuild the current dam, remove sedimentation that has accumulated in the pond since its construction initial construction, remove invasive plant material that has populated the area around the lake, plant native material to revegetate the site, and install additional storm water control measures to assist in maintaining good water quality in the pond and its downstream environment.
